THE OLD CITY CENTER OF KRANJA
Only a few kilometers from the Brdo Estate is the old town of Kranj, which is well worth a visit. The medieval city with its narrow streets and squares offers many historical and cultural attractions. The Prešeren Monument and the Prešeren House, dedicated to our greatest poet, are mandatory stops for every visitor. The Town Hall with its rich architecture testifies to the importance of Kranj over the centuries. The tunnels under the old Kranj, which once served as shelters, today represent a unique tourist attraction.
After visiting the sights, you can refresh yourself in one of the many cafes and restaurants that offer both traditional Gorenjska dishes and modern cuisine.

Bled
Bled is considered one of the most recognizable tourist destinations in Slovenia. A visit to the island of Bled with the Church of the Assumption of Mary, where you can ring the "bell of wishes", is a must. Bled Castle, which reigns on a rocky cliff, offers a stunning view of the lake and the surrounding mountains.
Bohinj
Lake Bohinj is the largest permanent natural lake in Slovenia. It lies in the heart of the Triglav National Park. In the summer months it is ideal for swimming, rowing and other water sports, while in the winter the area becomes a paradise for skiers and other winter sports enthusiasts.
Jezersko
An ideal destination for all people who are looking for a retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city and want to enjoy the authentic mountain scenery. One of the main attractions of Jezersko is the Planšar lake, where you can enjoy a pleasant walk, a picnic or take photos of the wonderful views. Jezersko Valley offers many activities for nature and sports lovers. Visitors can enjoy hiking, cycling, fishing, tennis... In the winter months, activities such as cross-country skiing, ski touring, skating, sledding and winter walks are popular.
Strmol Castle
While exploring the surroundings of Brdo pri Kranju, you should not miss a visit to Strmol Castle, which is located in the immediate vicinity. This mighty medieval fortress is considered one of the best preserved castles in Slovenia. The castle, which dates back to the 13th century, today functions as a protocol facility and museum. It impresses visitors with its rich interior design, authentic furniture and works of art. The surroundings of the castle offer pleasant walking paths through the well-kept gardens and woods that surround this historical landmark.
Kokra River canyon
The city of Kranj boasts an exceptional natural phenomenon - the 30 meter deep canyon of the Kokra River, which is considered the second highest urban canyon in Europe. This green oasis in the middle of the city offers a pleasant refreshment in the summer heat and a colorful home to many plant and animal species. While walking along the well-maintained circular paths, you can admire the remains of former mills and sawmills. Numerous bridges have been built across the canyon, leading you to new scenic viewpoints.

Popular hiking destinations in the area:
Šmarjetna mountain (646 m)
A popular hiking destination that offers a wonderful view of Gorenjska and its surrounding peaks. At the top is the Bellevue Hotel, which offers accommodation and a restaurant where you can refresh yourself.
St. Jošt above Kranj (845 m)
It is also a popular excursion spot, located just a few minutes from the center of Kranj. At the top stands the church of St. Jošt and Dom na Joštu, where they serve local specialties.
Udin boršt
The Udin Boršt Landscape Park offers many flat paths that are ideal for family walks and easy hikes. You can explore nature along well-marked trails.
Lake Črnava
A smaller reservoir located in Preddvor, just a few kilometers away from Kranj. A wonderful location for hiking and spending free time.
